You do not need to bring your baby to your registration appointment. Due to limited accessibility, if you want to bring your baby you will need to use the entrance through the Clock Tower Library.
The entrance is at 9 Katharine St, Croydon, CR0 1NX. Please use the lift to get to the first floor, and follow the signs to the registry office.
It is a legal requirement to register a birth within 42 days of your baby being born.
You will need a birth certificate when applying for any benefits related to the birth of a newborn.
You must have an appointment to register a birth at Croydon Register Office. We do not allow walk-in appointments. You must observe social distancing rules when you attend your appointment.
You can book an appointment by selecting 'Book an Appointment to Register a Birth' on the online form.
Your booking is not complete until you receive an email with a booking reference after you submit your request.
It is your responsibility to check all details on your baby’s birth certificate are correct. You will be asked to check the birth entry before signing. After signing, it will cost up to £99 to correct errors in the original birth record.
