Attending your appointment during Coronavirus

Do not attend a birth registration appointment if you have tested positive or are displaying symptoms associated with COVID-19. Check if you or your child has symptoms on the NHS website.

To minimise the number of people who are in contact with each other during this time, we have a number of rules in place in order to keep you and our staff safe.

Your appointment will last about 30 minutes per child. You must arrive 10 minutes before your appointment starts.

You do not need to bring your baby to your registration appointment. Due to limited accessibility, if you want to bring your baby you will need to use the entrance through the Clock Tower Library.

The entrance is at 9 Katharine St, Croydon, CR0 1NX. Please use the lift to get to the first floor, and follow the signage to the registry office.

Who can attend an appointment

Only the person or people essential for the registration should attend the appointment. Anyone who is not required for the registration will not be permitted to enter the building.

Do not bring:

  • the baby with you (unless you have to)
  • any other children or family members with you (unless you have to)

If you are not married or in a civil partnership with your partner

If the mother wants the baby’s father’s details to be entered into the register, then both parents will need to attend the appointment.

If you are married or in a civil partnership with your partner

Only one of you will be able to attend the appointment.

How to keep safe during your appointment

On arrival and during your appointment you will be required to use hand sanitiser and comply with Public Health England guidance on social distancing.

Read GOV.UK's guidance on social distancing.

If you have your own personal protective equipment (PPE) please wear it to your appointment.
