What you can put in your food waste bin

We supply most houses and flats with a caddy for recycling food waste. 

Food waste we collect is processed into agricultural, nutrient-rich fertiliser. Some food waste can be used to make compost at home.

Food waste we can recycle

You can put any raw or cooked food in your caddy, including:

  • meat and fish
  • bones, fat and gristle
  • rice, pasta, beans and cereals
  • dairy products including eggs and shells
  • tea bags and coffee grounds
  • fruit, vegetables, salad and peelings
  • bread, cakes and pastries

Food waste we cannot recycle

Do not contaminate your food waste with anything like the following:

  • plastic bags
  • food packaging
  • liquids
  • oil or liquid fat
  • nappies
  • pet litter
  • pet bedding
