Croydon Apprenticeship Scheme

Do you know someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic, driven and committed?
  • Hard working but keeps being told they don’t have enough experience?
  • Looking for an opportunity to start their career and would love to work at the council?

If so, tell them about Croydon Council’s brand new apprenticeship programme which is now recruiting!

Croydon’s apprenticeship programme is looking for anyone who is keen to kick start their career and in gaining valuable experience in a council role. By October, our first ever cohort of apprentices will be working in a variety of teams across the council e.g. Museums, Children’s Services, Planning etc.

Apprenticeships do job training along with study. As an apprentice you get to work with experienced staff, gain skills on the job, have time to study and get paid a salary and holiday pay. Training salaries range from £8000 - £14,500.

Apprentices will be given a fixed term contract for a minimum of 12 months and depending on the apprenticeship they do. You could work towards a qualification in:

  • Youth Work
  • Business Administration
  • Community Arts
  • Finance and Accounting
  • Cultural Heritage
  • Customer Service
  • Building Surveying

If you are 16 or over and have 5 A-D GCSEs, you are eligible to apply for opportunities with the council. visit https://croydonworks.co.uk/opportunities and type ‘council’ in the search box.

As a council, we are committed to providing high quality placements that will help put our residents on the path to their careers, helping them develop the essential skills, experience and knowledge they need to successfully secure employment in the future. We understand that experience is something that grows over time so are actively working to provide local people with entry level opportunities that will enable them to understand the world of work and how to succeed within it.
