As a Croydon Council tenant, you have legal protections when it comes to gas safety.
Your rights
Annual safety inspection
We must arrange a yearly inspection of all gas appliances and flues by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Gas Safety Certificate
You must receive a copy of the Gas Safety Certificate before you move in, or within 28 days of the check being completed.
Safe appliances
Gas appliances supplied by us must be safely installed and maintained.
Carbon monoxide alarms
Carbon monoxide can be dangerous. Monitors are required in any room with a gas appliance where people spend a lot of time.
If things go wrong
If an appliance is found unsafe, the engineer can disconnect it or shut off the gas supply. We are required to fix the issue promptly using a qualified engineer.
