Licence summary

If you sell alcohol and hold a licence under the Licensing Act 2003 and you wish to operate category C and D gaming machines you must apply for a permit or submit a notification.

Eligibility criteria

If you operate three or more machines you must apply for a permit.

If you have one or two machines then you should submit a notification form.

How to apply for a permit

Download the 'application/notification form' below and complete sections A, B, D & E, once completed send it to the licensing team at the address below together with a cheque for £150. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Will tacit consent apply?

No. Your permit will only be issued to you when all the necessary inspections/checks have been carried out and the premises meets the required standards.

Annual fee

The annual fee of £50 becomes payable on the anniversary of the grant of the permit. You can pay your annual fee online.

Alternatively payment can now be made over the telephone by credit or debit card, if you would like to use this facility please telephone 020 8760 5466. Please note a surcharge of 1.65% will be payable for payments made by credit card, there is no charge for debit card payments.

Variation applications

If you already hold a permit and would like to vary the number of machines please download the 'application/notification form' below and complete sections A, B, D & E, once completed send it to the licensing team at the address below together with a cheque for £100. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Transfer applications

If you are taking over as the new owner of a licensed premises please download the 'application/notification form' below and complete sections A, C, D & E, once completed send it to the licensing team at the address below together with a cheque for £25. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Notification only

Download the 'application/notification form' below and complete sections A, D & E, once completed send it to the licensing team at the address below together with a cheque for £50. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Failed application redress

Any person who is refused a licence can appeal to the Croydon Magistrates Court, Barclay Road, Croydon CR9 3NG.

Licence holder redress

Any licence holder who objects to any of the licensing conditions attached to a licence may appeal to the Croydon Magistrates Court, Barclay Road, Croydon CR9 3NG.
