Special treatments licence

If you run a business that offers beauty treatments, massage, alternative therapies or tanning facilities you may need a special treatments licence.

Who needs to apply

Premises offering special treatments must have a special treatments licence.

Treatments include:

  • massage
  • acupuncture
  • manicure
  • piercing and tattooing
  • sauna and light
  • electric or vapour treatments

Licence conditions

All premises offering special treatments must comply with the special treatments licence conditions (PDF, 277KB).

Exemptions

Some professional organisations and associations have applied for an exemption for their members. View the list of exempt organisations and associations (PDF, 323KB).
