Special treatments licence

If you run a business that offers beauty treatments, massage, alternative therapies or tanning facilities you may need a special treatments licence.

Variation of a Special Treatment Licence

If you wish to make changes to your licence, you can:

  • add new treatments
  • add extra rooms or floorspace
  • add practitioners, tattooists or piercers
  • transfer the licence to new owners

Add new treatments

You must vary your licence to add new treatments to it. New treatments must not be offered until: 

  • submitted documentation has been checked and verified
  • an inspection (where applicable) has been undertaken and the treatment has been added to the licence

Add a practitioner, tattooist or piercer 

You must vary your licence to add a new practitioner, tattooist or piercer to your licence. Treatments must not be offered until submitted documentation has been checked and verified and the practitioner, tattooist or piercer has been added to the licence.

Please complete a form for each person you require to be added to your licence.

Transfer a licence

If you no longer require your licence, you may return it to the council or transfer it to another party.

If you wish to transfer the licence, you must email licensing@croydon.gov.uk to advise us that you agree to the transfer.

The new business owner must complete the transfer form and pay the required fees.
