Find out about cremation services in Croydon Crematorium.
The standard cremation coffin is made of chipboard or MDF with plastic liner, handles and nameplate, all of which create emissions.
Environmental alternatives are manufactured to standards certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). These contain recycled timber and for each coffin used, a donation is made to the Woodland Trust. If you are interested in this option please discuss this with your funeral director.
An attractive and expensive looking re-usable casket is also available. This includes an inner cardboard coffin, which is removed for cremation. The outer casket can be re-used a number of times. This approach saves the world’s resources and all green coffins made of cardboard, bamboo or wicker also help us minimise emissions from the cremation process.
