East Croydon station is Croydon's front door. It's also one of the busiest stations in Britain outside of Central London, with direct links to Gatwick Airport, London Victoria and London Bridge in 15 minutes.

The East Croydon masterplan brings together developments, including Stanhope Schroder's Ruskin Square and Menta's Cherry Orchard Road, to create a new urban quarter with an improved transport interchange and railway station. Enhanced public realm will tie together the various proposals, and connect the area with improvements planned for Wellesley Road and College Green. Funding was in place to deliver a new station entrance and pedestrian footbridge, which has increased capacity and enabled the wider regeneration of Croydon.

The international jury for the New London Awards 2012 named the East Croydon Masterplan as joint winner of the Best Masterplan category in July 2012.

Status

The East Croydon Masterplan was adopted as Interim Planning Guidance on 21 March 2011 following public consultation in September/October 2010.
