Exemption Permits

All properties within the exemption zone are eligible to apply for a permit (up to 3 permits per household). Those properties with a rear access for motor vehicles from a road within the exemption zone will be eligible for a permit.

All roads and properties within the healthy neighbourhoods remain accessible by vehicle. If you do not have a permit and are not exempt, you just need to take a different route to reach your destination. Enforcement cameras are installed to prevent through traffic.

How to apply

Resident exemption permits

You must be on the council tax or electoral register.

All properties within the exemption zone are eligible to apply for a permit (up to 3 permits per household). Those properties with a rear access for motor vehicles from a road within the exemption zone will be eligible for a permit.

Exemptions will last for 3 years, or until we are notified that you are no longer a resident of the address within the exemption zone.

Please make sure you select Healthy Neighbourhood from the list of available permits.

Temporary resident exemption

Any resident that requires a temporary exemption for a courtesy car, or large delivery or trades vehicle can apply for a 1 day, 1 week or 1 month exemption. This is not for the use of general visitors, private hire vehicles.

Please make sure you select Healthy Neighbourhood from the list of available permits.

Carer's exemption permit

You must be on the council tax or electoral register and provide the carers vehicle registration number.

If you are a resident within the exemption zone then you can apply for a carers exemption permit to allow your carers to drive through the Health Neighbourhood.

As a resident, you can apply for a 1 day, 1 week or 1 month exemption on behalf of a carers.

Carers that visit on a regular basis can apply for a 12 month exemption.

Blue badge exemption permit

Blue badge holders will be able to apply for an exemption for a Healthy Neighbourhood they need to drive into or be driven into. 

During the application process you will need to upload a copy of the front and back of a valid blue badge.

Nursery and school staff exemption permit

Vehicles belonging to staff of nurseries and schools within the Healthy Neighbourhood exemption zone can apply for an exemption by emailing chnpermits@croydon.gov.uk. You request must be sent from an official school email address.
