Add video content to pages sparingly. Think about adding one only if you think that it aids and improves the written content.

When to use video in page

Use a video if:

  • you're writing about visitor parking permits and it would help help the user understand how to use and display the parking permits
  • you're writing content encouraging people to think about fostering and you want users to hear first hand from a foster carer explaining what being a foster carer is really like
  • you're writing about services for people whose first language is not English or they have a sensory impairment and it would aid their understanding of the content

Video guidelines

To add a video, it is best to embed it into a page using the embed code from the video player.

On YouTube, click on the 'share' link and then copy the embed code. Then paste the code into the source code of the page you are adding the video to.

This will allow users to play the video within the page.
