London Borough of Croydon

Coronavirus (COVID-19) update:

The School Admissions Team is running a good service and will continue to process all applications.

It may take us longer than usual to respond to your application. Please be assured that we will reply to all applications, you do not need to contact us again after submitting. Thank you for your patience.

Applying for an in-year primary school place

If you need to apply for a primary school place outside of the normal admissions period, this an in-year admission.

Please note: Independent school admissions are managed by the Independent Schools Council not Croydon Council.

Application process

1. Research the primary schools you want to apply to

Find primary schools near you.

Check the admissions criteria for the primary schools you're interested in.

2. Complete an application form

Once you’ve decided what primary schools you want to apply to, you will need to complete an in-year application using our online portal.

If you are unable to complete the application online, please visit a local library where you will be able to use a computer and seek support if required.  Please contact the School Admissions team at Croydon if you require further support to complete an application.

Supplementary information form (SIF)
Some schools might need extra information to check if a child qualifies, and decide what their waiting list position will be. The extra information must be submitted using a supplementary information form (SIF). You'll need to check the school’s website to see if they need you to complete a SIF. If a school does require a SIF to be completed, a paper copy can be requested from the school.

Please note: If you do need to complete a supplementary information form (SIF), you'll still need to complete an in-year admission to primary school form too.

In-year applications for children with health and medical needs

Education, health and care plan (EHCP)

If your child has an education, health and care plan (EHCP), please email for in-year admissions information.

Applications on medical grounds

If you feel there are exceptional medical reasons for your child to be considered for a priority school place. You'll need to complete the medical application form. Completed forms can be returned by email, post or in person. See the "Submit your completed application" section above.
