The move to a London wide Business Rates pool in 2018-19 will see the Council retain a much higher share of business rates income: the share retained by Croydon Council will increase from 30% to 64%.  To keep funding at the previously announced levels, central government will no longer pay central grant funding to the Council, and the business rates top up grant has also been reduced.

Social care precept

The adult social care precept charge is to help meet the rising costs of adult social care and minimise the need to cut other services. It will appear on your council tax bill as a separate line but is included in the overall charge.

The 2% increase for the adult social care precept is based on the combined Croydon council charge and adult social care precept charge for 2017/18 and therefore why you are paying more in 2018/19 than you did in 2017/18.
