Leaf clearance during autumn and winter

During autumn and winter, we prioritise our leaf clearance activities across the borough.

It is not possible to remove all leaves immediately.

To keep residents safe, we prioritise leaf clearance based on the level of risk.

  • High priority – heavy leaf build-ups that create slip hazards, obstructing pavements or cycleways, or blocking drains and gullies
  • Medium priority – moderate leaf build-ups that require clearance but do not present an immediate safety risk
  • Low priority – lightly scattered or recently fallen leaves that will be addressed through routine cleansing schedules

For visual examples of each priority level, see the leaf clearance priority guide (PDF, 303KB)

What you should expect

You may find that:

  • leaves may remain on streets between scheduled cleansing visits
  • streets can quickly become covered again following wind, rain or ongoing leaf fall
  • resources are focused on locations where there is a safety risk or potential flooding concern
  • light leaf coverage does not usually require an urgent response

Report a leaf build-up

Please report leaf build-ups that:

  • create a slip hazard
  • block pedestrian access
  • obstruct drains or gullies
  • present a significant safety concern

You can report issues through Love Clean Streets.

Thank you for your patience as we work to keep Croydon's streets safe, clean and accessible throughout the leaf fall season.
