The Kenley Community Plan
Due to the shortage of housing in London and the Southeast, more homes are being built across Croydon and this increased growth is likely to continue in the future. In response to concerns about the increase in housing raised by the Kenley community, funding was secured from the Greater London Authority’s (GLA) Good Growth Fund (GGF) in early 2019 to appoint specialist consultants to engage further with the community to create a Community Plan for the area. From the spring to autumn of 2019 there was a mix of engagement activities to ensure the views of Kenley residents, businesses and visitors were heard. These activities included: online surveys, face-to-face interviews, focus groups, meetings with stakeholders and resident associations, business surveys and a number of public events. During this time over 700 responses were received and have contributed to the Community Plan.
The Kenley Community Plan (KCP) will inform the way that Kenley evolves by helping to identify priorities for investment in the short, medium and long term to support Kenley’s growing community and ensure that the increase in new homes and investment in Kenley can make a positive contribution to the neighbourhood.
Alongside the KCP, and in response to community concerns about transport, parking and road safety, the council has commissioned a transport study to recommend improvements. This study will be concluded in early 2020.
The Kenley Community Plan will be available in draft form for public comment in early 2020 followed by the final plan. Details of how to comment will be published here.
