How to get parking restrictions suspended

You can apply for either a:

  • dispensation
  • suspension

A parking dispensation is for parking on yellow lines. 

A suspension is to temporarily lift limits on the use of a parking bay.

All requests are subject to availability.

Dispensations

You can apply for a dispensation if you need to park your vehicle in an area with parking restrictions while you carry out work or attend an important function at a specific address. This might be needed in cases such as:

  • shopfitting
  • building works
  • funerals

Residents' charges

  • Dispensations: Central Zone £43 per day
  • Dispensations other areas £33 per day
  • Administration charge £46

Commercial charges

  • Dispensations: Central Zone £64 per day
  • Dispensations other areas £54 per day
  • Administration charge £57

Suspensions

If you want to deposit a skip on any road, you will also have to buy a skip licence.

Residents' charges

  • Administration charge: £46
  • Suspensions - central controlled parking zone (CPZ) bays: £46 per day
  • Suspensions - all other parking bays: £35 per day

Commercial charges

  • Administration charge: £57
  • Suspensions - central controlled parking zone (CPZ) bays: £68 per day
  • Suspensions - all other parking bays: £57 per day

Event suspension

Suspensions for events: £1065 

Charity event

  • Parking bay per day: £30 per 6 meters
  • Non-bay per day: £30 per 6 meters
  • Parking administration, suspension and dispensation fees: £25

Notice periods

  • Parking dispensation: we need a minimum of 10 working days before the required date
  • Parking suspension: we need a minimum of 10 working days before the required date
  • Suspensions for events: we need a minimum of 6 weeks notice before the event

You will need to pay the charge before the dispensation or suspension will be actioned.
