Estate walkabouts

Estate walkabouts give you the opportunity to report issues, ask questions and get involved in improving your estate.

An estate walkabout is an inspection of the exterior and communal grounds of an estate. It normally involves a small group of residents, tenancy and repairs officers, and caretakers. Your local councillors are also invited to attend.

It gives residents the chance to work alongside service teams to identify issues around their estate. The inspection can take from an hour to 2 and a half hours depending on the size of the estate. Afterwards, an action plan is produced outlining:

  • the issue on the estate
  • what will happen next
  • the time frame to resolve the issue

Estate inspections will be advertised in advance so do get involved if one is happening where you live. If you would like to speak to us about an inspection in your area, contact residentinvolvement@croydon.gov.uk or call us on 020 8726 6100 ext. 44524.

We also encourage residents to help us monitor our caretaking and grounds maintenance service by joining our neighbourhood voice scheme, and completing our monitoring forms.
