Industrial pollution

You must have a permit from us to carry out certain industrial and commercial processes that cause emissions to the air. These are known as Part B processes.

Pollution from industrial and commercial sources is controlled by the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010  (EPR) and its amendments.

These include:

  • dry cleaners
  • paint spraying operations
  • crematoriums
  • petrol stations

A list can be found on Local authority environmental permits (GOV.UK website).

It is an offence to operate a Part B process without a permit.

Some installations may also require planning permission.

Local Authorities are required to keep a register of “permitted” processes in the Borough and this can be accesses by contacting us at: SpecialistPollution@croydon.gov.uk

You can see a list of industrial processes which are registered in Croydon on the Love clean Air website
