How to register to vote

Register to vote online at GOV.UK. Registering takes around 5 minutes and you will need you National Insurance number. If you're a British citizen living abroad, you need your passport.

By post

Download a paper voter registration form from GOV.UK, print and complete and then post to the Electoral Services team at the address below.

Who can vote

You must be:

  • resident at the address where you are registering
  • 18 years of age or above
  • a British, Irish or European Union citizen, or a Commonwealth citizen who has leave to enter or remain in the UK or who does not require such leave

Change of address

If you move or change your address, you must re-register to vote. To re-register visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

If you cannot re-register online, please call us on 0300 373 0575. We will add you to the register provisionally, and send you a registration form by post.

Remove a person from the electoral register

If you think that someone is wrongly registered at your address, you can either:

  • email us at electoral.services@croydon.gov.uk confirming your name and address, along with the names of the individuals you wish to remove (and their forwarding address if known)
  • Call us on 0300 373 0595
     

As part of the removal process letters will be sent to all those that should be deleted confirming that their entry will be removed.

Change of name or nationality

If you need to make a change to your name or nationality, please request to opt out of the open register.
