If you are appointed to protect, control and care for children whilst they are modelling, performing on stage or taking part in TV or film, you will need a licence.
A chaperone (or matron) is a licensed person appointed to protect, control and care for children whilst they are modelling, performing on stage or taking part in a film production, radio or television programme.
To quote the law, they act in 'loco parentis and should exercise the same care and control which a good parent might be reasonably expected to give that child'.
All applicants must live within the London Borough of Croydon.
There are 2 types of licence. You will be invoiced before your licence is issued.
Fees include a DBS check.
You must complete the Safeguarding Children (Level 1) course. This helps to ensure that all people working with or who have contact with children and young people are equipped to carry out their safeguarding responsibilities effectively.
You will also need a passport style photo. This must:
Do not wear glasses in your photo unless you must do so. If you must wear glasses, they cannot be sunglasses or tinted glasses, and you must make sure your eyes are not covered by the frames or any glare, reflection, or shadow.
You will be asked to upload your Safeguarding course certificate and photo when completing the form.
