Types of animal welfare licences
If you're a business that deals with animals, for example if you breed dogs or hire out horses, you will need to apply for an animal welfare licence.
Renewing your licence
Licences will last for one, two or three years based on an assessment of risk and whether or not minimum or higher standards are met.
If your licence is for keeping animals for training and exhibition
Licences for keeping animals for training and exhibition will be for 3 years and not risk assessed.
What you need to do
We will email you renewal reminders starting 6 months before your licence is due to expire. You will be able to click on a link in the renewal email to check the details of your licence and make a payment.
We strongly encourage you to make your renewal application well ahead of the expiry date so we can arrange for your inspection to take place. If your licence expires you may have to apply for a new licence at the higher rate.
