Crisis Payment
The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) provides support for low‑income households who are facing unexpected financial difficulties. This includes help with housing‑related costs and support to improve financial stability.
Crisis Payments are for occasional or short-term needs. It offers short‑term help with essential, one‑off costs when there is no other way to pay for them.
Who can apply
You can apply if you:
- live in Croydon
- are over 18 years of age
- have experienced a financial shock or sudden, unexpected expense or drop in income
How the fund can help
The fund provides financial assistance including:
• food vouchers
• debt with energy bills and water bills
• energy top-up (pre-pay meters)
• essential goods (one white goods)
• housing costs (excluding mortgage payment)
Before you apply
Please read the following information carefully. Your application may be delayed if we do not have the correct details.
You do not need to be in receipt of benefits to receive the Crisis Payment. If you are receiving benefits, this will not impact your claim or any future claims.
What will you need for your application
You will need to provide evidence of low income and financial shock to help us assess your application. Evidence is required for anyone in the household over 18 years old, including joint bank accounts. This will help us to assess your application.
Documents required to support your application:
- last 1 month's bank statement(s) including current bank balance for everyone aged 18 years and over
- proof of last 1 month's income for everyone aged 18 years and over
- full energy bill, water bill, or both, dated within last month (if applying for support with bills)
- evidence of your crisis
- proof of identity (passport, driver's licence or birth certificate)
