About the project
Our shared journey
In collaboration with residents, Oasis Charitable Trust and the Friends of Ashburton Park (FOAP), the project has secured a first stage grant of £304,000 funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, showcasing the power of community partnership.
Form October 2023 to October 2024 the funding will allow us to recruit a Senior Project Manager to lead investigations, surveys, and community engagement to understand what is needed in the park. This will help us build a case for support and recommendations for park restoration making us eligible to apply for a second stage Heritage Fund grant in November 2024.
If we are successful with our stage two grant, we will be able to deliver our restoration recommendations from Summer 2025 over two to three years.
Timeline for transformation
September 2023
Project manager appointed.
October to December 2023
Investigative surveys take place including:
- archaeological
- building condition
- topographical
- utilities
- ecological
- hydrological
- arboricultural
- mapping of the site
January to February 2024
Activity and community event planning for the year ahead with The Friends of Addington Park (FOAP) and Oasis Hub Ashburton Park.
March 2024
Tender for design brief to visualise the parks restoration.
April to August 2024
Pop up workshops, community engagement and activities taking place. Full details on our community events calendar.
September 2024
A community day celebration, commemorating not only the achievements of the project but also the park's centenary.
October 2024
Document preparation and finalise investigations for further funding submission.
November 2024
Conclude Stage one, submit to Stage two of the grant application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
April 2025
Decision on the National Lottery Heritage Fund grant application. If successful, our submission will secure the resources needed to bring the restoration vision to life.
