The Mayor of Croydon’s Business Plan prioritises making Croydon a safer, and healthier place, and to take action to reduce carbon emissions in Croydon. This includes supporting the transition to electric vehicles.
An electric vehicle strategy for Croydon is under development. This strategy will encourage the transition from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric vehicles as part of a sustainable, integrated transport system.
Approximately 350 public electric vehicle charging points have been installed across the borough through various funding streams. This includes multiple private operator installed electric vehicle charging points (over 17 charge point operators in operation).
Demand is projected to increase significantly, with an estimated forecast of 4,500 required by 2035. The proposed electric vehicle strategy will establish a clear framework for future infrastructure installation.
