How to apply

When you complete the online form, please fill in all details carefully. The information you provide is used to process the licence. Read our guidance on the application process for the selective licence.

Before you apply

Check if your property is in a qualifying area

It is a legal requirement to hold a selective licence for any qualifying property in Croydon areas. If your property is in a qualifying area, you will be required to make an application for a licence, unless the property is exempt.

Information required

You will need to include:

  • full name, address, and contact details of the applicant
  • address of the rented property
  • type of property, for example a flat, house, maisonette
  • details of current occupants, for example number of adults and children, household type
  • details of those with an interest in the property, such as freeholder or mortgage provider
  • details about property, for example room sizes, location and facilities

Documents required

You will need to include:

  • current gas safety certificate, if applicable
  • electrical installation condition report (EICR)
  • energy performance certificate (EPC)
  • floor plan
  • management details (licence holder and any managing agent) 
  • proof of licence holder's address, if an individual
  • evidence of accreditation or membership if seeking the relevant discount
