From 7 September 2026, when a Croydon resident pupil is permanently excluded, we will adjust the school’s funding so that the funding follows the pupil.
The adjustment will include:
The amount will be calculated pro rata from the sixth school day following the permanent exclusion.
The funding will help meet the cost of the education arranged for the pupil following their exclusion. This reflects the principle that funding intended to support a child’s education should continue to support that child. In this case when the responsibility for their education moves from the school to the Council or another provider.
Schools must continue to notify Croydon Council immediately of every permanent exclusion.
We will provide more detailed guidance about how the adjustment will be calculated and administered to schools.
