Mobile recycling centre

We are trialling a mobile recycling centre in Thornton Heath

For the trial, we are limiting its use to a small number of local households. If successful, we will look to run more across the borough.

The mobile recycling centre is only available to residents within the following postcodes

  • CR7 8RD
  • CR7 8RL
  • CR7 8SN

Proof of address must be provided, this can be one of the following:

  • full or provisional UK driving licence
  • EU photocard driving licence
  • utility bill, (dated within last 3 months, not a mobile phone bill
  • bank or building society statement, (dated within last 3 months)
  • Council Tax bill (dated within last 12 months)
  • mortgage statement (dated within last 12 months)
  • benefit statement or letter, for example pension or Child Benefit, (dated within last 3 months)
  • HMRC document (not P45 or P60)

The location will be close to the eligible postcode, so we recommend people walk items to the centre rather than driving. Parking could be very limited.

Date and location

Saturday 8 November 2025 , 11am to  2pm

We will publish location on this page after 12 noon on Friday 7 November.

What the centre will accept

You can bring up to 5 items.  We accept a full range of materials for recycling, as well as the following:

  • household waste in black bags
  • garden waste
  • small electrical goods
  • small bulky waste items
  • batteries and vapes

Please sort your waste into these groups before leaving home to reduce the amount of time spent on site.

What we do not accept

  • asbestos
  • chemicals
  • gas bottles, these can be taken back to the retailer or provider of the gas canisters.
  • paints or varnishes
  • tyres

For advice on how to dispose of these items and other types of hazardous waste, visit Corporation of London household waste collection or call the Corporation of London on 020 7332 3433.
