Authority Monitoring Report

The Authority Monitoring Report provides a framework to assess if planning policies within the Local Plan are effective.

Information from the report helps to measure how planning policies are used. It also identifies planning issues relevant to residents and businesses in the borough.

The current report covers the period of April 2023 to March 2024 and sets out the:

• progress made with preparing planning policy documents illustrated through the Local Development Scheme
• number of homes completed in the borough
• number of affordable homes being delivered
• tenures and sizes of completed homes 
• 5-year housing land supply for the borough
• performance of key monitoring indicators
   

The Authorities Monitoring Report for 2023/24 concluded that the:

• number of residential completions for the year was 2,130 homes
• number of affordable homes completed in the borough for the year was 364 homes
• borough has a 5.1-year housing land supply
   

Every local planning authority must prepare an Authority Monitoring Report. It is a requirement of section 35 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 (the 2004 Act), (as amended by section 113 of the Localism Act 2011).
