Early technical surveys are underway ahead of developing proposals for how to improve Central Parade and the surrounding area.
All phases of the public realm improvements are now complete, along with the additional improvements added to this scheme.
See more images of the completed improvements (PDF, 2.1MB).
Improvements included the installations of new lighting, renewing the paving surface and kerbs, improving the drainage system and resurfacing the service road.
Funded by the Outer London Fund, the first stage of improvements included new trees and landscaping, an extended pedestrian crossing area outside the shops and improved paths around the Octagon. Residents can also enjoy the new skate, play and seating areas as well as the timber stage for community events.
In addition to the above, car park layout improvements to both far north and south car parks (Octagon & CALAT) were carried out and are now complete with new signage.
New planters will be installed along the central strip (shop side) to replace the four wood planters.

In 2014 we ran a public consultation and held a series of public events to gather people’s views on two coordinated improvement projects:
1. The next phase of improvement works to the east side of Central Parade to be delivered as part of the Connected Croydon programme.
2. The future for the west side regeneration.
Thank you to everyone that participated in this consultation. Below you can download a summary of the feedback received and our responses to comments.
Works commence: Work is now in progress at New Addington’s Central Parade. The first stage of works are to install new street lighting, this should be completed by the end of February.
New and improved public realm: Following the completion of the new light installations, work will begin in renewing the paving surface, kerbs, improving the drainage system and resurfacing the service road.
We aim to achieve the completion of these works in July 2016.
Improvements continue along the central parade, works to ramp up from 7 June with additional resources deployed to site.
Unfortunately, a level of disruption is unavoidable to achieve these works, but we will work closely with businesses to minimise this where possible.
