Litter

Littering is a criminal offence for which you can be fined or prosecuted. You can report littering online.

Littering is a criminal offence and we will take legal action against those caught breaking the law. Litter makes Croydon look dirty and uncared for and it costs taxpayers’ money when the council has to clear it up. If caught littering you could be fined £80 or even prosecuted.

You can help keep the streets clean by taking pride and personal responsibility for where you live or work in Croydon.

  • Use the on-street litter bins; there are approximately 1,500 in Croydon so there is no excuse to drop litter.
  • Use the built-in ashtrays on litter bins to stub out and dispose of cigarette butts and smoking-related litter.
  • Use on-street recycling bins for waste such as newspapers, magazines and coffee cups.
