The Ruffet is a small woodland surrounded by the Chapel View Estate. Originally it was a small woodland in the middle of an open field containing mainly Oak trees but also a few Beech and Birch. The name is old English and means a meadow overgrown with bushes or wasteland or a small wood and is possibly 14th century.
