The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon

If you're up for a challenge, the 2019 Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon is your chance to compete against the best new talent in British road running.

#TeamCroydon are looking for young athletes to compete in the Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon on Sunday 28 April 2019. This is an event that's enjoyed by the thousands of young people who take part. You will be part of a team of 36 runners and run the final three miles of the London Marathon course.

To be eligible to represent Croydon, you must live*, go to school or were born in the London Borough of Croydon, and be between the ages of 11 – 17 on the day the race (born between Born between 1 September 2001 and 28 April 2008). There are three age groups for boys and girls. 

Boys and Girls – Under 13
Must be at least 11 years old on 28 April 2019 or 12 on 31 August 2018

Born between 1 September 2005 and 28 April 2008

Boys and Girls – Under 15
Must be 13 or 14 on 31 August 2018

Born between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2005

Boys and Girls – Under 17
Must be aged 15 or 16 on 31 August 2018

Born between 1 September 2001 and 31 August 2003

*If an athlete is eligible to run for one or more London boroughs, and is selected for more than one borough, the athlete should run for the borough they live in, which will take priority over school, and birth place.

How to enter

Register and sign up to the Mini Marathon trials for your chance to be part of #TeamCroydon. If you wish to compete, you must attend this trial.

Trial information

Date: Saturday 2 March

Venue: Lloyd Park, Coombe Road, Croydon, CR0 5RA


12.00pm - Girls U17 and U15  

12.30pm - Girls U13                              

2.00pm - Boys U17, U15 and U13    

The top three athletes from the U13, U15 and U17 boys and girls categories will be guaranteed selection. The other remaining place in each category will be decided by club recommendations, current performances and trials.

If you are unable to make the trials and wish to be considered, you must have a legitimate reason and email before the event stating your full details (name, address, date of birth, contact number and school). Please supply details of latest performances (times and distances) and include a recent parkrun time.

Mini London Wheelchair Marathon

There is also an event for young wheelchair athletes, who can compete over the three mile course within the time limit of 45 minutes. If you are interested, we will try to arrange a racing chair for the event, but you will need to provide a helmet and gloves.
