Leisure centres in Croydon will begin a phased re-opening from Saturday 25 July. For more details and updates, read the re-opening of centres in Croydon – Better.org.
There are five local leisure centres in Croydon. The centres are managed by GLL, in partnership with Croydon Council.
Each centre has a:
- swimming pool
- exercise classes
Free swimming for those aged 16 and under
Young people aged 16 and under can get cool and keep active this summer, when free swimming sessions at Croydon’s five leisure centres returns on Wednesday 24 July. Free swimming ends on Monday 2 September.
To register, people will need to complete an application form online through the Better website, or through the self-service machines at their nearest centre. Customers will then have to collect their card from within the centres. ID may be required should someone appear to be over 16, or under eight.
Eight year olds and younger are entitled to free swimming but must be accompanied by an adult, who must register them.
The £2 membership card that can be used throughout the summer, which can replaced for an additional £2 if lost or stolen.

Free swimming sessions are very popular during hot weather, so it’s possible there may be a short wait until another session later that day to ensure the pool doesn’t become overcrowded.
