‘Inspiring Lives, Building Futures’
Orchard Park High School is part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust which is a family of schools that have the same values, vision for education and learning, as encapsulated in the Trust’s mission statement: “We are ambitious for our schools and their students. We believe that there is no ceiling on what can be achieved by anyone, regardless of their circumstances or background.”
We pride ourselves in our positive ethos which supports and enhances the personal development and well-being of every individual. As a vibrant learning community, we aim to provide the very best learning opportunities where students are challenged, inspired and encouraged to reach their full potential, regardless of ability. We place high emphasis on respect and positive behaviour which ensures the school is a safe and happy place in which to learn and grow.
We aim to inspire and empower all members of our school community to:
• Be proud of and serve our school
• Strive for academic excellence
• Nurture all gifts, talents and potentials
• Respect, value and love ourselves and each other and create resilient, lifelong learners ready to take their place as leaders in the world – today, tomorrow and always.
• Create resilient, lifelong learners ready to take their place as leaders in the world – today, tomorrow and always.
We have high academic expectations, high standards of learning and teaching and a commitment to be the ‘best we can be.’ Students are expected to work hard and to value the opportunities created within and beyond school.
We are an inclusive school with a strong sense of community. A premium is put on courtesy, smart appearance and good conduct. All staff are involved in the pastoral care of students. We also place particular emphasis on our close working relationships with our parents/carers.
Our dedicated and passionate team of well qualified and highly skilled staff provide outstanding teaching whilst developing students’ strengths, nurturing their talents and celebrating their achievements. We instil in our students a sense of self-worth, personal belief and a positive growth-mind-set.
All national curriculum subjects are taught at the school. In addition, the school offers a wide variety of vocational and academic options to ensure that all pupils can study courses appropriate to their needs and abilities. Students are set according to ability upon entry. This is reviewed termly to ensure all students are making expected progress.
Our curriculum provides a wide variety of vocational and academic courses which students start at the beginning of Year 9 with many of our students progressing to study medicine, dentistry and nursing, as well as many other careers.
The school makes very special provision in Sport. We have an outstanding sporting record and our close partnership with Bromley Football Club enables our students to advance in the world of Football. The programme offers the development of life skills, educational excellence with strong community links, which supports their development through the discipline of sport.
The school provides a wealth of activities, visits to professional and artistic venues, opportunities in public speaking, enterprise education and many visits to theatres, concerts, museums and galleries.
There are opportunities for residential and outward bound trips. Many school visits and journeys are offered to support the curriculum; for instance to Belgium, to visit the WW1 battlefields and to France and Spain, which supports language learning.
We look forward to welcoming our new students as we support them to flourish and grow into successful, aspirational and accomplished young adults - ready to take their place in the world.
