Setting up a Direct Debit is simple and easy and is the most efficient way for us to collect your instalments.
Setting up a Direct Debit allows you to:
- choose from 4 monthly instalment dates
- extend your payments over 12 months instead of the usual 10
- pay us automatically, avoiding reminders
- spread your payments out over the year
How to set up a Direct Debit
To set up a Direct Debit, complete a council tax Direct Debit instruction form.
You will need your council tax account reference number for the bill you want to pay, if you know it.
Some banks and building societies may not accept Direct Debit instructions. For example, card cash accounts, post office accounts and most savings accounts will not. Check with your provider first before proceeding.
Set your instalment dates
If you choose to pay your council tax by Direct Debit you can have a choice of 4 dates to suit you. For example, choose the 1st, 5th, 15th or 25th of the month for payment.
Change your bank details
To change the bank details on your existing Direct Debit, complete the council tax Direct Debit instruction form with your new bank account information. This will update your details.
If you wish to simply change the date of your Direct Debit, contact us. If you are emailing us with your change of date then include your name, account number and preferred date.
