Council Tax and benefits online:
Council Tax and Benefits on-line services will be unavailable from 4pm Friday 1st to 9am Thursday 7 March.
Choose to pay your council tax bill by Direct Debit, online, by telephone, post or via your bank or building society.
Sometimes we may call or text you. Calls will be from 0203 3230 201 and texts will be from from LBCroydon. Within the texts we use the URL textm.co – this is a genuine communication from Croydon Council.
Setting up a Direct Debit is simple and easy and is the most efficient way for us to collect your instalments.
Setting up a Direct Debit allows you to:
To set up a Direct Debit, complete a council tax Direct Debit instruction form.
You will need your council tax account reference number for the bill you want to pay, if you know it.
Some banks and building societies may not accept Direct Debit instructions. For example, card cash accounts, post office accounts and most savings accounts will not. Check with your provider first before proceeding.
If you choose to pay your council tax by Direct Debit you can have a choice of 4 dates to suit you. For example, choose the 1st, 5th, 15th or 25th of the month for payment.
To change the bank details on your existing Direct Debit, complete the council tax Direct Debit instruction form with your new bank account information. This will update your details.
If you wish to simply change the date of your Direct Debit, contact us. If you are emailing us with your change of date then include your name, account number and preferred date.
