The election of Councillors
Croydon is divided into 28 wards. Each ward is represented by either 1, 2 or 3 councillors as shown in the table on this page.
The ballot paper will be yellow and it will confirm at the top of the paper the number of candidates an elector can vote for. Voters will be able to vote for as many candidates as there are seats available in their ward but do not have to vote for all available candidates.
If a voter votes for more than the number of available seats, then none of their votes will be counted.
How the votes are counted
The councillors are elected using the first past the post system, so the candidate(s) with the highest number of votes in each ward contest will be declared elected.
