Children and young people tell us about their health and wellbeing

Findings from the pandemic recovery, health and wellbeing survey, for children in year groups, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12.

More than 4,000 school-aged children and young people responded to our first health and wellbeing survey, following the COVID-19 pandemic.

They answered a range of questions on:

  • mental health
  • diet
  • exercise
  • sleep
  • relationships
  • their general wellbeing

The survey findings provide a snapshot of children and young people's thoughts and feelings about their health and wellbeing. These findings give valuable insights that will be used to better support them during their vital school years.

Our public health team received funding from the Department of Health and Social Care's (DHSC) Contain Outbreak Management Fund to carry out this survey every two years, over the next 10 years, in relation to COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

The next survey in this series will be launched in the autumn school term of 2024.
