If you operate a business premises and would like to offer it as a venue for marriages or civil partnerships you should apply to us for approval.

The approval is valid for three years from the date of issue; a fee is payable on application.
How to apply
If you are applying for a new approval, you can apply online.
If you prefer to apply by post please download the form below and once completed send it to the licensing team at the address below, together with a cheque for the relevant fee. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council.

Application evaluation process
Once your application is received, a licensing officer will contact you to make arrangements to carry out an inspection of your premises. The inspection will be to ensure that the premises meet the standards required by the conditions of approval which can be viewed below.
The council's registrar will also visit the premises to ensure that it is seemly and dignified for ceremonies to be undertaken.
The council's access officer will also visit your premises to ensure that the premises are accessible to wheelchair users etc.
Will tacit consent apply?
No. Your approval will only be issued to you when all the above inspections/checks have been carried out and the premises meets the required standards. The approval may also list additional site specific conditions.
Renewal of an approval
If you already hold an approval, you can renew it online.

Variation to an existing approval
If you currently hold an approval and would like to add additional rooms to the approval please click on the download 'variation application form' below and once completed send it to the licensing team with the current fee.
Failed application redress
Any person who is refused an approval can appeal to Croydon Magistrates Court, Barclay Road, Croydon CR9 3NG.
Licence holder redress
Any approval holder who objects to any of the conditions attached to the approval may appeal to Croydon Magistrates Court, Barclay Road, Croydon CR9 3NG.
