The book of remembrance provides a perpetual record and memorial.
The book of remembrance provides a perpetual record and memorial. It lies open in the hall of remembrance, in Croydon Crematorium, with a page a day for each day of the year. Entries may be viewed on the anniversary date you have requested on the order form. This is the only permanent memorial available.
There are volumes for each quarter of the year. Each page is made of the finest hand made parchment. Even when full, the books will still be kept permanently in the Hall of Remembrance.
Entries may consist of 2, 5 or 8 lines of words. Entries consisting of 5 or 8 lines can also include a coat of arms, regimental badge, floral emblem or a memento of your choice at a small additional cost, the crematorium will be happy to advise you.
Access to the book of remembrance room is provided 365 days of the year. If you visit on a day other than the anniversary that you have chosen, ask for a member of staff to assist you. Someone is always available to help you on weekdays.
Occasionally you will not be able to view your inscription as the books are taken off the premises for inscribing and book scanning.
