London Borough of Croydon

The Discretionary Support fund consists of two different funds to support residents who are in financial hardship. Both Funds are applied for using the same application form linked below. The funds are:

Discretionary housing payments (DHP)

If you receive housing benefit from Croydon Council or the housing element of universal credit and need help with any of the following:

  • Shortfall in your rent
  • Rent in advance/deposit
  • Removal costs

Apply for discretionary housing payments (DHP)

Croydon discretionary support (CDS). 

If you need help with any of the following:

  • Essential goods items
  • Rent in advance & deposit (not currently in receipt of housing benefit)
  • Removals (not currently in receipt of housing benefit)
  • Emergency living expenses
  • Storage

Apply online for Croydon discretionary support (CDS)

Please be aware if you are in receipt of housing benefit in a different borough, you will need to contact that council for assistance.

All applications must be submitted with:

  • Budget planner
  • Last 3 months bank statements for all accounts for all adults in your household

Please be aware if you are applying for deposit/rent in advance you must be able to afford the rent on the property you are applying for. local housing allowance (LHA) rates this link will help you with affordability.
