Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF)

The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) helps Croydon residents who are facing financial hardship. It provides help with urgent essential costs and housing costs, alongside support to improve financial stability over time.  

The fund runs from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029 and replaces the Household Support Fund (HSF) and Discretionary Housing Payments. 

Crisis Payment

If you are facing an urgent financial emergency and have no other way to pay for essential one-off costs, you may be able to get a Crisis Payment. This can help with food, energy and essential household appliances. This support is intended to help you resolve an immediate crisis quickly.

Housing Payment

A Housing Payment may help with the cost of keeping or finding a home.  This can include help to reduce rent arrears where a tenancy is at risk, support to prevent homelessness, or assistance with costs linked to moving into a new property. The aim is to help residents remain safely housed or secure suitable accommodation.

Resilience support

Alongside help with urgent costs, we are developing support to help residents manage their money and reduce the risk of future financial difficulties.

The planned programme includes:

  • More advice on benefits, debt and housing through Citizens Advice Croydon.
  • Advice and support through Age UK Croydon to help older residents manage their income.
  • Help for care-experienced young people setting up their first home.
  • Skills and job support through the Mayor’s Employment Fund.
  • Funding for schools to help families meet essential costs.
  • Programmes to support wellbeing, healthy eating and money management for families living in temporary accommodation.

Support you can receive now

Holiday Activities and Food programme

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme provides free holiday activities and healthy meals for eligible children and young people. CRF funding is extending the programme to February, May and October half terms, with additional advice and support for families on healthy eating, budgeting and employment.

Help moving into a longer-term home

The Move-On Fund helps eligible residents with the costs of moving into a longer-term home. This includes people living in temporary or supported accommodation and care-experienced young people.

Support may include help with a deposit, rent in advance, rent arrears or essential items for the home.
