Survey of Adult Carers in England (SACE)

Information on the national Survey of Adult Carers in England.

We are required to carry out a survey on adult carers, aged 18 or over, as part of our responsibility for providing adult social care services.

The survey is carried out for carers who:

  • care for an adult aged 18 or over
  • have received carer support within the last 12 months
  • have been assessed in the last 12 months but received no direct support, irrespective of whether the cared for person received respite care

Read the guidance for the Survey of Adult Carers in England (SACE). The guidance highlights the steps to take if you need help to complete the survey. Please contact us if you need information in another language or format.

Survey launch

From 1 October 2025, we will send out the survey to a sample of people who meet the above criteria. In the survey, you will be asked views on:

  • your quality of life
  • the impact of services on your quality of life
  • your general health and wellbeing

Responses to the survey are completely anonymous.

If you receive the questionnaire, we would appreciate you completing it and returning it in the pre-paid envelope. You do not need to put a stamp on the envelope.

Collection of results

Once returned we will analyse the results and share them with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) who is responsible for the Survey of Adult Carers in England (SACE). The results of the survey will be used to:

  • monitor and benchmark performance through national outcome measures
  • inform, monitor and develop delivery of services locally

The more people who take part, the more useful the results will be to help us assess and improve our local services for people like you.

You will need to complete and return the survey by 22 October 2025.

Thank you in advance for giving some of your time to help Adult Social Care services.
