Croydon Arts Store

In collaboration with local and neighbouring art organisations, the Whitgift Centre has become home to the Croydon Art Store (CAS). The store has temporarily taken over a four story unit and transformed it into an arts and cultural venue.

CAS provides affordable studio space for artists, arts workshops and activities. There will also be a gallery space to exhibit work from local artists, a free bookable creative event space, and a research space to develop a Croydon biannual art exhibition with Kingston School of Art.

The store is a collaboration between:

  • Croydon Council
  • Turf Projects, a Croydon based, artist-run, contemporary art space that hosts free exhibitions, workshops and events
  • Art Halo, an award-winning organisation working towards the vision of making high quality art activity available to all
  • Kingston School of Art, an art and design school recognised as one of the best in teaching and research in Europe.

The space was taken over with the support of the Croydon Partnership.

CAS will provide unique and inspiring events with a focus on youth engagement. It will also give the council an opportunity to see how arts and cultural activities can be made more accessible in shopping centres and commercial places.
