Nationally important parks and gardens in Croydon. The council will take the area’s special interest into account in planning application decisions.
Registered parks and gardens are considered nationally important because of their history and design. Details of all registered parks and gardens in England are contained in the National Heritage List for England (NHLE), which is administered by Historic England. If a park or garden is included on the register, it does not affect whether planning permission is required. However, when planning permission is needed for proposals that would affect a registered park or garden, or its setting, the Council will take the landscape’s special historic interest into account and the proposal will be assessed against the Council’s heritage policies.
