Our approach to commissioning

How we develop and improve services with and for the people of Croydon.

Working together: our journey to co-production

Co-production is a term that is widely used in the delivery and evaluation of many public services.

The National Co-production Advisory Group defines co-production as:

"A meeting of minds coming together to find shared solutions. In practice, co-production involves people who use services being consulted, included and working together from the start to the end of any project that affects them."

While we are at the start of our journey to fully implementing this in practice, we remain committed to working to design future services with the experiences of providers and users in mind.

How we engage

We ensure:

  • Meaningful engagement: engagement involves active listening and proper use of feedback
  • Honesty: being honest about what is happening, what can be influenced and what will happen next
  • Time: time is taken to plan, carry out the engagement and analyse the responses. People have given their personal time to us

Methods of engagement

Engagement will include surveys, focus groups, or one-to-one sessions. This gives stakeholders the opportunity to get involved in shaping service design or improvement, commissioning of new services, policy development and advice and guidance.

How we will implement this

We will make sure we select the most useful and appropriate method of engagement to involve you.
