History
North Down was the first recreation ground in New Addington, it consisted of a 5.73-acre field plus a children's playground. The land belonged to the adjacent Addington Golf Course. The ground was gradually enlarged as areas were purchased and the land was levelled for sports fields. In 1969 a field was added to the space which had previously been farmland, it was probably farmed from Castle Hill Farm which stood near the site of today's fire station.
