Disrepair claim companies

Always contact us before pursuing legal action. If you have a current disrepair claim, we will get you the help you need.

Disrepair claim companies target tenants and leaseholders living in council properties and are often not what they seem.

Disrepair claim companies may:

  • advertise on social media, put a leaflet in your letterbox, call you or knock on your door
  • claim they are from Croydon Council or working on behalf of it when they are not
  • offer a ‘No Win, No Fee’ service when there are often hidden clauses and costs
  • claim you are entitled to a lot more compensation when it is not the case
  • take a high percentage of any compensation awarded to you, sometimes 50% or more, or not pay you at all
  • put you at financial risk if you sign an agreement with them, as you may be liable for costs if you lose your claim

If someone comes to your door:

  • always ask for their identification
  • do not open the door if you’re not sure who they are
  • call the police immediately if you feel scared or threatened
