In 2014 scrutiny in Croydon piloted a new initiative enabling Ward Councillors to conduct local action mini reviews on behalf of residents. Through mini reviews Councillors can investigate and make recommendations on local issues and deliver tangible results for residents.
In 2014 scrutiny in Croydon piloted a new initiative enabling Ward Councillors to conduct local action mini reviews on behalf of residents. Through mini reviews Councillors can investigate and make recommendations on local issues and deliver tangible results for residents.
There are almost no limits to what can be investigated as part of a mini review. Scrutiny Committees are empowered to examine any issue in their locality and this power has been extended to Councillors who have a request for a local action mini review approved. All local services, no matter who provides them, are therefore suitable areas for mini reviews to cover.
These mini reviews are not however suitable for matters relating to pending or decided planning or licensing decisions, nor other areas where individuals have a statutory right to a review or right of appeal.
