Croydon Mayor's letter on accountability in local government

Mayor Jason Perry addresses the Secretary of State on accountability in Croydon Council.

Mayor of Croydon, Jason Perry, in a letter to the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State, writes about the significant challenges and actions we face in light of the financial collapse of the council.

In the letter he addresses:

  • the financial mismanagement and governance failure in Croydon
  • the actions and recommendations being taken by the council's Appointments and Disciplinary Committee 
  • the challenges to be faced by the council over the coming years to protect Croydon residents, including a stronger accountability framework
